Glo-Prolek Rebar Protective Coat-Tx

Glo-Protek Rebar Protective Coat-Tx, (GP-RPC-Tx) is a truly revolutionary rebar protective coating system. GP-PRC-TX protects new construction right from "Day 1" in a unique and robust way. Billions of dollars are spent each year to rebuild concrete structure damaged by corrosion. We see this damage everywhere around us – in homes, office buildings, infrastructure projects, and indeed in any steel-reinforced concrete construction.

GP-RPC-Tx is a hi-tech modified Oleo-Resinous based coating system that with its revolutionary non toxic Zinc Dihydrate, converts adherent rust into a hard complex that attains a passive state without losing the strength of metal. GP-RPC-Tx offers a tough coating resistant to corrosion, abrasion, fresh water etc.

GP-RPC-Tx Protective Coating System is Far Superior to Epoxy.

GP-RPC-Tx Protective coating system is far superior to Epoxy coating system. Over the past several years epoxy coating system have been adopted throughout the world, but the fact is that they result into excessive corrosion due to de-bonding between concrete and epoxy coated steel, and also due to corrosion from chloride contamination in the concrete. The research paper and failure report on “Field performance of Epoxy-coated Reinforcement steel in USA” is available on the internet.

Now with the revolutionary GP-RPC-Tx system, you can choose to banish corrosion. Further comparing Pullout Strength test of steel rebars in concrete, Epoxy-coated rebar reduce the pullout strength to less than one-third as compare to the raw pullout strength at the contact between concrete and a normal non-coated bars in its native form, whereas GP-RPC-Tx is practically no loss of pull out strength.

In addition to these, GP-RPC-Tx also has 3 to 5 times cost advantage over "epoxy" coatings.

Comparison Table for Pullout Strength Test of 18mm Steel Rebars in Concrete as per ASTM 775

Reinforcement bars in R.C.C. Size of Concrete Cylinders Length of Embedment Pull-out Strength
Uncoated Bar 150 mm Dia. 300 mm ht 250 mm 8.0 Ton
GP-RPC-Tx Coated Bar - do - - do - 7.6 Ton
Epoxy-coated Bar - do - - do - 2 - 2.25 Ton

From above, it is clear that Epoxy coated rebars can manage only 2.5 ton pullout load, whereas GP-RPC-Tx coated bars gives 7.60 ton pullout strength, which is almost near to uncoated bars pullout load.

Application process on Steel Rebar

  • Remove loose rust scales, flaking rust and dirt from the corroded steel rebar surface with the use of wire brush, grinder etc. However, there is no need to remove all the traces of rust. GP-RPC-Tx can apply on adherent rust. No Sand Blasting required.
  • While application make sure that sufficient solution is applied, as the success or failure of such treatment depends on this factor.
  • Apply GP-RPC-Tx with a brush, by dip method or simply by spraying on to get minimum DFT of 25/35 micron.
  • For getting the optimum result after coating store the rebars in a shade area before embedding it in the cement concrete.
  • Do not transfer the left-over portion of GP-RPC-Tx back into the original container, so as to prevent contamination of the unused product.
  • If Dilution required use Synthetic Thinner TX 104.
